This site is intended to be a source of both
advanced statistical analysis
of the NBA
and the
data required to perform such analysis.
Hopefully, you'll find this site of value whether you're looking for NBA statistics
that aren't available in a box score or you're looking to perform your own analyses.
Currently, BasketballValue.com focuses on calculating the impact an NBA player
has when he's on the court.
These numbers are updated constantly throughout the season. In addition to adjusted +/-,
the site also contains net (on court - off court) ratings for overall team performance,
offense, defense, and offensive and defensive rebounding.
Data going back to the 2005-2006 is available for
download by the basketball analytics community.
The performance of individual players
as well as 5-man units can be viewed on this site.
The adjusted +/- calculations are in the spirit of the work of
Dan Rosenbaum.
They aim to assess all the contributions a player makes when factoring in the strength of
his teammates and opponents.
Additional information on how these adjusted +/-
ratings are calculated has been published on 82games.com.
Additional work on the value of holding
an NBA draft pick has also been published on 82games.com.
